In this case, my son was the victim of a crime at the high school. My personal phone was linked to his and was able to track it. I showed that to a detective-sergeant and said ‘what can we do with this?’ He said we can work cases like this. He took his team to track the signal and they weren’t able to find anybody
Michael Meehan, the embattled police chief for the city of Berkeley, California, attempts to rationalize why he dispatched 10 police officers to search for his son’s missing iPhone in January. Meehan claims he would have ordered the same for anyone else in the city and that his son did not receive special treatment.

Investors Cheer As Customers Bleed: AT&T, Verizon and Apple are sick of subsidizing your iPhone. Currently, Apple sells the handsets to the telecom giants at $600 a pop, which are then subsidized down to $200 for a base model to $400 for one with more memory. That’s going to end — with upgrade fees and more-expensive data plans, customers will soon start shelling out more for their iDevice. While that has customers cringing, it has investors cheering, claiming wireless companies would benefit greatly from raising the price of the phone. [Photo: AP]

This is how much AT&T sucks: In the past 12 months, I’ve managed to accrue 4,400 rollover minutes. And last month alone, I couldn’t successfully place one phone call during the day, which means all of my 450 anytime minutes on my plan went right to rollover.
This is a photo of this month’s statement. It’s worth noting that I was able to make at least sixteen minutes worth of phone calls — 14 of those were during the night, and just two minutes were spent during the day calling another mobile phone.
My bill this month: Just over $80. And that’s with a corporate discount.
I’m out of contract in July, thank God, and I can’t wait to switch to another company.
