NBC Miami: Police say arrest warrant being prepared for Chris Brown after iPhone theft:

From NBC station WTVJ:

Police responded at 4:43 a.m. They listed the offense as a “robbery by sudden snatching,” and said the incident would be further investigated.

Police said the state attorney’s office is preparing the arrest warrant for Brown. Tyga wasn’t implicated, they said. Authorities said they don’t believe Brown in still in Miami.

Tribune's LA Times launches paywall disguised as "membership program":

You know, a “membership program,” like what you might enroll in at Costco: The cost of the Los Angeles Times’ paywall will translate to $1.99 for news consumers with a print subscription or $3.99 for readers without a print subscription, meaning digital-only access will cost around $16 for people who live outside of the LA Times’ print delivery footprint.

The LA Times will allow non-digital subscribers to read 15 articles within a 30-day period.

Biz Stone: Spending tons of time on Twitter 'unhealthy':

A co-founder of Twitter has told its 500 million users not to spend hours on the micro-blogging site because it is “unhealthy”.

Biz Stone, Twitter’s creative director, said users should visit the site for information but leave once they had found it.

At a business conference in Montreal, Canada, Stone, 37, said that using Twitter for hours at a time “sounds unhealthy”.

“I like the kind of engagement where you go to the website and you leave because you’ve found what you are looking for or you found something very interesting and you learned something,” he told the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal on Wednesday.

The photo on the left of some building I wandered past yesterday in Times Square was captured using the iPhone 4’s default camera application; the photo on the right is the same image imported into the Camera+ app ($1.99 in the iTunes store) with the app’s “Clarity” filter applied.

The difference is in the details — and the details are definitely more noticeable.

President Barack Obama sent a letter to Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Thursday apologizing for the burning of copies of the Koran at U.S. military base in Afghanistan, the White House said.

“In the letter, delivered by Ambassador (Ryan) Crocker this afternoon in Kabul, the president also expressed our regret and apologies over the incident in which religious materials were unintentionally mishandled at Bagram Airbase,” White House spokesman Tommy Vietor said.

The burning of Korans at the Bagram airbase near Kabul has sparked fierce protests against U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

A packed commuter train ploughed into the buffers at a Buenos Aires station during morning rush hour on Wednesday, killing at least 49 people and injuring more than 600 others, officials said.

They said the train was unable to stop, presumably due to faulty brakes, and it slammed into the buffers inside the centrally located “Once” station. More than 800 passengers were aboard the train, state news agency Telam reported.

A police spokesman said 49 people had been killed.
